City to Change to Four Day Trash Pick Up
SUFFOLK, VA (June 18, 2010) Effective July 6th, the City of Suffolk Department of Public Works will be converting to a four day trash pick up schedule. Monday will no longer be a regular trash pick up day. As the result, trash pick up days for residents may change. This change will allow for efficiencies, as trash collection during holiday weeks will no longer have to be picked up on weekends and several manual routes will be converted to automated.
Public Works began notifiying affected customers last week of changes to their pick up dates. Packages announcing changes were delivered to customers doorsteps, signs were posted at the entrance to neighborhoods and stickers with new pick up dates are being placed on customers trash cans. Approximately 1,800 customers will be converted to automated routes. Ninety gallon cans are being delievered to those customers.
Customers that have questions are asked to contact the Department of Public Works at 757-514-7630.
